In Mimi’s case, I found a telling gesture in the clenched hands, offering and containing, appealing but also forceful. This gave me the opportunity to play with the idea of having the portrait balanced on the elbows and to have fun with the negative spaces. The canopy of hair holds the composition together while the emotional effect is quite iconic. >> next |
